Obituary of Lt. Col. David Lee Schneekloth, USAF,

David Lee Schneekloth passed away on January 7, 2015. He was born on April 1, 1930 in Plentywood, Montana to William and Jewell Schneekloth, now deceased. He grew up farming and ranching in the Redstone area and graduated form Flaxville High School in 1948. He attended Montana State University in Bozeman before going into the United States Air Force. David was a radio operator before going into Cadets where he learned to fly airplanes. That was his ultimate, to fly. He married Dorothy Marie Purcell in Gonzales, Texas on December 30. 1959. They enjoyed military life together, adding a son, Steven Lamar Schneekloth, and a daughter Sharon Lee Naylor to their family.David flew fighter until the Vietnam War. There, he was a Forward Air Controller, flying a small Cessna. He received many metals including Distinguished Flying Cross, Bronze Star, Silver Star, eight Air Medals and Combat Readiness medal. He came home to a job at NORAD in missile warning. He retired after 30 years and 1 day of service. David returned to his roots to raise trees in Falcon. His second retirement occurred in 2008. He enjoyed his grandchildren, Jimmy Lawrence, Shana Schneekloth, Casey and Spencer Cooper, Aran Anna Naylor and Nichole Stormberg. David is survived by his wife, Dorothy; son, Steven Lamar Schneekloth; daughter, Sharon Lee Naylor; two sisters, Mary Robinson and Susie Metully of Washington; and a brother, Bob of Hardin Montana. Memorial Service, 11:00AM, Thursday, January 15, 2015, Grace Community Church, 1945 Grace Church View, Falcon, Colorado. Burial will be on Friday, January 16, 2015 at Fort Logan National Cemetery, Denver, Colorado.In lieu of flowers, memorials in David's name can be sent to Grace Community Church, 1945 Grace Church View, Falcon, CO 80831.
