Obituary of Christine Hunter Cormier
Christine Hunter Cormier, 58, died on January 12, 2015 in Colorado Springs, Colorado.Affectionately known as "Chris" and "China Girl" to those who knew and loved her, she was born and raised in Natchez, Mississippi.Chris and her husband, Lawrence H. Cormier, met in Belleview, Nebraska while he was stationed at Offutt Air Force Base, Nebraska. She and he moved to Colorado Springs in 1980, and have been together for more than 35 years. While in Colorado Springs, Chris worked as a Personal Home Health Care Consultant, taking care of the elderly and infirm, making life for those she cared for more tolerable and endurable during the last days of their lives. She was loved dearly by those she cared for, as well as those who asked for her help with their loved ones. She was also an excellent cook, and while not directly hired as such, she was often consulted concerning her expertise in the culinary field; often assisting salaried cooks at the Air Force Academy while employed there in an alternate capacity. Her suggestions and assistance were greatly appreciated, and often sought out.Chris and Larry have no children of their own, but Chris was a loving and attentive step-parent to Shawn Cormier, her husband's son by a previous marriage. She helped him get a job at the Air Force Academy while she worked there, and was always available for any help or advice he may have needed while he was with her.Christine was preceded in death by her father, Ellis (Coochie) Miller; her mother, Mary (Tutta) Hunter; her brother, Bingham (Boogie) Hunter; her aunt, Flora Bee Hunter; her uncles, Sonny (Dock) Hunter, Ernest Hunter and Burnell Hunter; three half-brothers, John, Dan, and Jesse Miller; and two half-sisters, Anna Miller and Margaret Malone. She is survived by her husband, Lawrence H. Cormier (Colorado Springs, Colorado); her sister, Doris Hawkes (Newport News, Virginia); her brothers, Don Hunter (Natchez, Mississippi) and Larry Hunter (Omaha, Nebraska); three half-sisters, Marga Hoggatt, Carolyn Smith (Natchez, Mississippi) and Irma Mushatt (Charlotte, North Carolina); as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends. She will be missed dearly, and will always be loved in death as in life.Memorial Service, 5:30PM, Friday, January 16, 2015, The Springs Funeral Services, 3115 East Platte Avenue, Colorado Springs, Colorado. We all love you Chris.
