Obituary of Hartley Ellsworth Owsley, II

Hartley E. (Bud) Owsley was born in Alamosa, Colorado, the second son of Hartley and Luella Owsley. He entered into eternal life on January 19, 2015 in Colorado Springs. Bud leaves a legacy of love and service reflected in his family, friends, church family, and the community of Colorado Springs. Even in his slow decline with Alzheimer's, he continued to live a sweet life filled with kindness and laughter. He graduated from the University of Colorado with a BA in 1959 and MA in 1962, having met and married Judy Miller in 1960. He enjoyed his profession of city and regional planning in the Denver area and Colorado Springs, moving here in 1966. He served as Planning Director from 1978 to 1985 and then was asked to head a new Colorado Springs office of CH2MHill Engineers. Bud was a member of the American Institute of Certified Planners and the American Planning Association. He loved his family, hiking, keeping his yard in tiptop shape, fly fishing, trips with Judy and spending relaxing days at their mountain cabin. He was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Jim and Gary. Bud is survived by his wife, Judy; son, Greg (Bink); daughter, Kristin (Shannon Flynn); granddaughters, Mesa, Zola, and Dale; his brother, Chuck (Becky); and sister, Jaqueline Conville.
