Obituary of Roy Lee Burns

Roy Burns passed away peacefully in Colorado Springs, Colorado on Easter Sunday. Born October 19, 1926 in Gerster, Missouri to Charles and Stella Slocum Burns (both deceased).He was a World War II veteran of the United States Navy, serving in the South Pacific. After being honorably discharged he attended the Reppertt School of Auctioneering in Decatur, Indiana, then worked for the Missouri Highway Department. After moving to Colorado Springs in November 1964 he worked for the El Paso County Highway Department. He owned the Burns Auction Company until retiring in the early 1990s and was a member of the National Auctioneers Association.Roy was an avid fox hunter during his youth and later belonged to several square dance clubs in Colorado.Roy married the former Louise Bennett on February 18, 1995, who survives. He is survived by two brothers, Edward and Floyd Burns; two sisters, Mollie Searcy and Mildred (Dwight) Ringhausen.
