Obituary of David Brent Young
David Brent Young, age 61, an eight year resident of Canon City, Colorado passed away on April 7, 2015 at a Colorado Springs hospital after a courageous battle with liver cancer. He had retired after faithfully serving his country for over 20 years with the U.S. Army and attaining the rank of CW4. He then worked for the Fremont County Sheriff's Office as a Deputy Sheriff.David was born on September 3, 1953 in Marysville, California to the late Burt and Marilyn (Thompson) Young. He was a 1971 graduate of Marysville High School and joined the Army. He served in Vietnam, Germany, Oklahoma, Washington, Texas, Alaska and 585 days in the Kosovo Campaign. He received his Bachelor's degree from the University of Maryland. He retired from the Sheriff's Office in 2012 and then enjoyed antiques, vintage cars, his watch and clock collections, constantly snacking and giving people a hard time, in general.He is survived by his loving wife, Joyce - with whom he has spent his life with since 1988; his daughter, Carissa Bocz of Yuba City, California; his son, Tristen "Brent" Young of Marysville; his step-children, Trever Corbin of Bakersfield, California and Tracy (Chris) Kuehne of Yuba City.Brent has four brothers, Ernie (Gale) Young of Marysville, Steve (Melody) Young of Yuba City, Mike (Candi) Young of Marysville and Bill Young of Marysville; two sisters, Carole (Jerry) Shine and Peggy Chissie, both of Yuba City; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
