Obituary of Ricardo "Adan" Gonzalez

We are left with the bitter-sweet memories of our dear Adan. He was born on April 22, 1973 in Tecate, Mexico. In 1944, he married his soul mate Diana Armstrong. The couple endured many hardships including the miscarriage of their first daughter, Desiree. They were pregnant with another girl four years later. When their miracle-baby was born, Adan realized that it was time to settle down as a father. He wanted to do everything he could for his baby girl. The family soon set out for Colorado. He quickly bought a house in Calhan where the family could start fresh. Adan worked as a diesel mechanic in a small shop in Colorado Springs. He later got moved up in that business and became the Fleet Manager ensuring truck safety and running the shop efficiently. Adan was a hardworking man who did everything in his power to provide for his family.Adan was a member of Saint Michael's Catholic Church of Calhan; although he was not a frequent attendee, he was very close to God and had Holy Grace in his heart. He also was a proud, patriotic American; he was naturalized and became a citizen of the United States. He became a Free Mason, which gave him more quality values in the "3 F's": Faith, Family, and Friends. His hobbies included: hiking, camping, leatherwork, hunting, muzzle-loader shooting, and metal work fabrication. As a member of the Free Masons, he donated countless hours volunteering spending time cleaning the highway and child identification. Adan's Masonic Lodge even held scholarships for high school students in the surrounding area. He had a caring heart. He carried a bad past in pursuit of a better future for those he loved. He had a guarded heart and a "tough guy" exterior, but those who knew him know he was a great man.Adan was a great fried with an infectious sense of humor and avidly told stories in such detail and wit. The stories he told were the best stories you would ever hear in your life. Not to mention, that man could cook almost anything and make it taste amazing; there wasn't ever a time I had ever not liked his cooking. He got immense pleasure out of the acknowledgment and approval of the heart and soul he put into cuisine. To his wife he was committed, was faithful and always stayed true. To his daughter, he was her world. He taught her how to hunt and be tough, but to keep in mind that she is a lady. He taught her standards and how to be classy. This man will always be remembered as a hero, an inspiration, and the best father a little girl could ever ask for. At the young age of forty-one, we mustn't say goodbye to this brilliant man, but keep him close in our hearts and remember that we will see him again someday.
