Obituary of Joseph Wilfred Martinez, Jr.

Joseph Wilfred Martinez, Jr. died on April 21, 2015 due to complications related to a colon and liver disorder. He was a businessman, wonderful son and friend who was loved by many and will be truly missed.Joseph was born on January 16, 1959 in Colorado Springs to Martina and Joseph W. Martinez, Sr. After high school and vocational school, Joseph's career spanned varied skilled occupational arenas. He served his country in the U.S. Air Force from 1982 to 1986 at Hickam AFB in Hawaii where he became a skilled aircraft repairman.Joseph attended construction vocational trade school after his military service. From 1986 until 2015, he managed and constructed a successful rental business with his family in Pueblo and in Colorado Springs. He also owned and operated a ranching and livestock business from 1988 until 2010.He was an avid fisherman and loved to play the nickel slot machines in Cripple Creek although he never hit "The Big One."He was a family man who is survived by his parents, his daughter: Kesha and his granddaughter: Alexis, and his brother: Mark Anthony Martinez. Preceding him in death were his sister: Carmen Schipper and his maternal and paternal grandparents.Visitation, 2:00PM-4:00PM a Rosary will be recited at 4:30pm on Sunday, April 26, 2015 at The Springs Funeral Services, 3115 E. Platte Avenue. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2:00PM, Monday, April 27, 2015 at St. Mary's Cathedral, 22 W. Kiowa St.Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery, 1005 S.
