Obituary of Elizabeth Renee Robertson

Renee Robertson, 68, of Colorado Springs, formerly of Little Rock and Hot Springs, Arkansas, St. Louis, Missouri and Fishers, Indiana passed away on April 27, 2015 at her home in Colorado Springs. Elizabeth Renee Sorrell was born on February 22, 1947 in Joplin, Missouri to Hubert and Audra Mae (Lindsay) Sorrell. She was a 1965 graduate of North Little Rock High School and earned a BA in Mathematics and a Master's Degree in Education from The University of Arkansas in Fayetteville. She married John Layton Robertson on January 27, 1968 in North Little Rock, Arkansas. She is survived by her husband, John Robertson of Colorado Springs; her daughter, Marigny (Richard) Klaber of Colorado Springs; her mother, Audra Mae Sorrell of North Little Rock, Arkansas; two grandchildren, Colin and Bryce Klaber of Colorado Springs; her sister, Nancy (Steve) Marshall of Maumelle, Arkansas; and a host of friends and colleagues.Renee will be most remembered for her devotion to teaching at the middle school level, where she focused on students who struggled, or who lived with adversity which made learning more difficult for them. She enjoyed helping others more than anything. She taught for over 30 years and was recognized for her accomplishments with the Emerson "Excellence in Teaching Award" in 2006.She gave freely of her time to assist family, neighbors and friends. When not helping others, Renee took great pleasure in working in her yard, continuously creating beautiful landscapes.Renee will be remembered with respect, admiration, and love. She offered the gifts of advice, friendship and selflessness and made the world a brighter place for each of the lives she touched.Memorial Service, 2:00PM, Tuesday, May 21, 2015 at Chapel of Our Saviour Episcopal Church, 8 4th Street, Colorado Springs, Colorado. In lieu of flowers, the family recommends memorial contributions be made to Wings of Hope for Pancreatic Cancer Research in Renee's name.
