Obituary of Helen Frances Jones

Helen Frances Jones (Bumann), longtime Lamar resident, departed this life on May 14, 2015 peacefully at her son's residence in Calhan, Colorado. After fighting heart disease for several years, Helen finally succumbed to this illness and returned to the Lord at age 79. Helen was born in Bristol, Colorado in 1935. She graduated from Lamar High School in 1953 and married Harry Neil Jones soon afterward; with whom she had three children, Connie, David and Bruce. She lived a full life, residing in Texas, Wyoming, Montana, North Dakota and even Honduras. She worked her entire life, never officially retiring. Helen will always be remembered by anyone who had the pleasure of knowing her as the most kindhearted, giving soul that would do anything for anybody. It is not a stretch to say she truly made the world a better place and will be sorely missed.Helen enjoyed decorating her yard, hitting the weekly garage sales, attending the weekly meet-ups at the Hickory House on Saturdays, watching the Broncos every week, savoring a new murder mystery, and following the weekly twists on Survivor. In her younger days, she was an awesome crocheter and relished the time in the outdoors with her daughter in Montana. She is preceded in death by her parents, Anna Ruth Bumann (Klopfenstine) in 2005 and Joseph August Bumann in 1993; her brothers, Timothy Perry Bumann in 1987, and Terry David Bumann in 2008; a special first cousin, Michael A. Duff in 2010; and her daughter, Connie Rae Harman of Billings, Montana in 2014. She was heartbroken at the untimely death of her grandson, Travis L. Kelley, in 2014 at the age of 40. She would be upset if we didn't mention her cockatiel, Dakota, who lived an amazing 22 years.Helen is survived by her sons, David (Martha) Jones of Calhan and Bruce (Kathy) Jones of Pueblo who helped her transition to the next life; her older sister, Joan Cooper of Holly, Colorado; a special first cousin, Beverly Myers (Weston) of Las Animas who will miss her dearly; and grandchildren, Angeleah Jones of Miles City, Montana, Shannon Jones of Colorado Springs, Jennifer Cunningham of Colorado Springs, Mary Nystrom of Colorado Springs, Jessica Cunningham of La Junta, and Curtis and Dan Whal of Miles City, Montana. A heartfelt goodbye comes from her numerous great-grandchildren. Helen was thankful to have known her best friends, Doris Reyher and Flora Montoya of Lamar. No services are planned.
