I was Sandra's core faculty on her PHD committee. Today, my step daughter sent a copy of a paper she had written this semester about EMDR, and it made me think of Sandy -- wondering how Sandy was doing. We had not spoken in many years. So, it is with profound shock and sadness that I have learned of Sandy's passing. Sandy was the kind of student for whom the Union Institute existed -- a working class woman, filled with diverse life experiences, who found a passion for serving people in need, using at the time a very new therapeutic technique -- and she learned the method, and became a unique researcher in the field, and gave to so many people -- especially first responders as in Oklahoma City and elsewhere. I have always been so moved by what Sandy did with her gifts, and regret now that we fell out of touch, And to Bob, it has now been several months, and I wish you the best in moving forward without this wonderful human being. Dear Bob and the whole big family, I have many fond memories of Sandra in the very early days of EMDR. She was always a leader and a cheerleader for all of us who believed in EMDR from the beginning. An inspiration to me and so many others. It is a great loss for the world, but a blessing to all who knew and loved her. She will be missed. Love and prayers to you all. Ellie Ryan

To the Family of Mrs. Wilson: Our deepest and sincerest condolences to the family. Words alone can not ease the pain when grieving the loss of a love one. The Bible provides comfort during these difficult times. Revelation 21:3-4 states, "And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away". May God give you and your family comfort in your loving memories and in His promise that soon we will never experience losing our loved ones in death and we will be able to see them again once they resurrected as per John 5:28-29. May these words give you a new hope, with deepest sympathy and warmth of heart.

To Bob and the rest of the family, what precious photos! Every one of them tells a story of love and caring, of devotion, and the importance of family and friends. San lived her life with that love and passion, and as much as she gave, she also gained tremendous strength from each of you. It shows in the photos and from the stories she told. I knew her through EMDR and the tremendous energy, focus, and leadership she provided in so many areas. We're all going to miss her tremendously. Please know that her spirit will live on through you, through the many people in need that she either taught or treated, and through her research that continues to support healing in the world every day. She was, and continues to be, an inspiration to many. Love to all of you.

Dear Bob, We are sorry to hear that Sandra passed away. It will be hard for you to process this. It was obvious that you were very devoted to each other. You relationship was intense, not only living as partners, but also working as partners in EMDR. For us (Carlijn and me) it was inspiring to learn from both of you and to see the harmony between the two of you. I (Renee) had the privilege of enjoying this again in London in 2013 after our training to become Child and Adolescent EMDR trainers in 2001. Bob, we wish you all the internal and external resources in the world thinkable and we expect you to come through this difficult phase of your life. We will remind Sandra for her kindness and her valuable contribution to EMDR and to our learning processes. We will think of you the coming period.Take care and carry on, Renee Beer and Carlijn de Roos

San was a force of nature. Her commitment to and belief in EMDR in the early days compelled her to overcome considerable obstacles in order to create worthwhile projects when she saw a need. Whether it was on her home turf with the Colorado Springs Police Stress Study or in a refugee camp in Hemar, Germany, Sandra could design a project, attract talented clinicians, organize the logistics and make it happen. Bob was always there as a co-creator, an inspiration, a partner, and a cheerleader. Sandra's special talent was in championing people; she would encourage and challenge one to express their best self. My gratitude for having San as a friend is immeasurable. The devotion San and Bob had for each other has touched me deeply. Karin Kleiner

I never had the honor of knowing Sandra, but as I read all the comments by those who were privileged to know her, and then as I watched the beautiful video, I regret that I never knew her. Sandra has clearly left her mark on this world, and has left it a better place for her being. She has done so much for others in her professional life. What she has given to the EMDR community cannot be quantified. But what I am stuck by is her beautiful family. She was blessed to have a large, loving family. And I am in awe at her incredible energy to be able to raise 5 children, have time for her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and her devoted husband, Robert, and still be able to give so much to the world, and to all those who are suffering. Yes, I am sorry I never knew you, Sandra. It sounds like you were an angel here on earth. Robert, you have my deepest condolences. I am so sorry that you have lost such a beautiful person, and such a loving wife.

Sandra graced me with the tools I needed to begin using EMDR with Children...which brought them deep healing. Those tools and healing have gone out into the world: In my work with children for over a decade. In teaching what I have learned to other therapists. And in the children who have gone forth in their lives with their gifts unburdened by the frozen crap they had been encased in. They have had their lives returned to them. Sandra, you truly put light into the world in places and ways you never could have imagined. I am saddened beyond what words can say that you are not physically here with us. But you live on in the works I have witnessed and the lives your work healed. My heart, thoughts and prayers go out to Bob and her Family.
