Obituary of Marjorie Evelyn Eggleston

Marjorie Evelyn Eggleston, 86, passed away on June 16, 2015, in Nathrop, Colorado. She was a registered nurse, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt and friend.Marjorie Evelyn (Meade) (Turri) Eggleston was born on March 23, 1929, in Johnson City, New York to Vern and Fannie (Fields) Meade. She graduated from Johnson City High School and from the Flower and Fifth Avenue School of Nursing. She held many positions at hospitals during her 35 year career as an R.N. and focused much of her career doing private duty nursing.She married Ralph Arnold Turri in 1954 whom preceded her in death in 1972. She married Melvin Eggleston in 1988.Marjorie was passionate about her genealogy research and involvement in the Santa Barbara chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR). She loved her family deeply, and loved keeping up on all the family happenings. She loved to cook and entertain, and was a social butterfly who loved all of her friends. She enjoyed her neighborhood sewing group. Marjorie enjoyed living all over the United States. She lived in New York, Florida, California, Virginia, Maryland and Colorado. She loved traveling, and some of her memorable trips were a trip from Florida to California and back with her first husband, Ralph, and three young children, and traveling to Alaska with her husband Mel, and throughout the West. One of her happiest moments was catching a large salmon with Mel in Alaska. She and Mel spent 3 months traveling through Alaska having the time of their lives. They also loved spending part of each winter in Arizona as she loved the desert, and she especially loved her home in Nathrop, Colorado, surrounded by three mountain ranges.Marjorie was preceded in death by her parents; her step-mother, Estella Meade; her first husband, Ralph Turri; and brothers, Donald Meade and John Meade.She is survived by her husband, Melvin Eggleston of Nathrop, Colorado; her son, James Turri and his wife Holly, of Bellingham, Washington; her daughter, Emily Chase and her husband, Bill, of Blaine, Washington; and her son, Ralph Turri and his wife, Mei, of Charleston, South Carolina.Marjorie has thirteen wonderful grandchildren, Julie Ward, Katherine Spahr, John Turri, Patrick Turri, Amanda North, Paul Chase, Lauren Ingram, Katelyn Bryan, Michael Turri, Tracey Squires, Steven Chase, WenJing, and Alex Turri.
