Rory O'Donnell was a colorful character widely known and recognized in the Colorado Springs community. For the last 45 years, Rory had been a justice and peace gadfly advocating for the poor and disenfranchised. He was a charter member of the Welfare Rights Organization, volunteered with many social justice groups and was a member of the Bijou Community.Rory was a faithful and committed member of the Secular Franciscan Order of Colorado Springs. He also spent much of his time in Mexico where he had a deep spiritual connection to the people and culture.Through the years, he travelled all over the United States with his children, often staying in Catholic Worker Houses along the way.An independent spirit, Rory was an outspoken Army veteran as well as a sign carrying pacifist.
