Obituary of Kenneth Eutell Eastham
Kenneth E. Eastham, age 73, passed away peacefully at his home in Colorado Springs on September 1, 2015 surrounded by his loving family. Kenneth bravely fought cancer and a rare form of Parkinson's disease for many years.Kenneth Eutell Eastham was born on March 7, 1942, in Crosby, Minnesota to the late Gussie Eutell Eastham and Louise Elizabeth (Thesing) Eastham. He attended elementary school in Alma and Fairplay, CO and graduated from Fairplay High School in 1960. After high school, he joined the United States Army and served for three years as a cryptographic equipment repairman in Fort Bragg, North Carolina and Schofield Barrack, Hawaii. His unit, the 125th Signal Battalion, was in charge of installing, maintaining, and repairing cryptographic equipment in Hawaii, and the surrounding islands including Tonga, Johnson and Christmas. He was honorably discharged with the rank of specialist 5th class.He married Carol Suzanne McFarland of Fairplay, in 1961, and they had a happy married life in Denver, Security, Penrose, and for many years, in Fairplay, CO. Together they had one son, Jeffrey Dean and one daughter, Bethany Suzanne. Kenneth spent most of his career working for Qwest (formerly known as Mountain Bell and U.S. West). After 32 years working as a central office technician, he finished his career with Ericsson Communications. He was an active member of his community serving on the school board for 12 years. He accepted the Lord as his personal savior in high school and became a member of the Fairplay Baptist Church where he served for many years as a teacher, song leader and deacon. He later became a member of Grace Church of South Park in Jefferson, CO. He enjoyed hunting with his brothers and son, fishing, gardening, spending time with his children and grandchildren, and reading and studying his Bible. He is survived by his wife, Suzanne of Colorado Springs; his son: Jeffrey (and Melonie) Eastham of Fairplay; his son-in-law: David Johnson of Naples, FL; his brothers: Eugene (and Joyce) Eastham of Colorado Springs; James (and Dalene) Eastham of Camp Verde, Arizona; Lawrence (and Barbara) Eastham of Soldotna, Alaska; and Gary (and Julie) Eastham of Grand Junction, Colorado. He also has four wonderful grandchildren; Brittany Rae Stewart (and Jeremiah) of Colorado Springs; Jessica Suzanne and Alyssa Lindsey Johnson of Naples, FL; and Kelsey Christina Eastham of Fairplay, CO. He is also survived by three great grandchildren; Josiah Lucas, Nathaniel Christopher and Samuel Jameson Stewart of Colorado Springs. He was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter: Bethany Suzanne Johnson, in 2014; his sister: Cleve and Mary Louise Oakley (Eastham); and two grandchildren, Brandon Christopher Eastham, in 1994, and David Ronald Johnson, Jr., in 1996.Funeral Services, 1:00PM, Sunday, September 6, 2015, at Grace Church of South Park, 6259 County Road 35, in Jefferson, Colorado, 80456.
