Obituary of Doris Josephine Sanchez-Healey

Doris Sanchez-Healey, age 76, died on Thursday, September 10, 2015 near Ludlow, Colorado. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, who was always in service to others.Doris Josephine Martinez was born on July 14, 1939 in Saguache, Colorado to the late Alfonso and Lenora (Lucero) Martinez. She was raised in Utah and was a 1957 graduate of Bingham High School in Bingham, Utah. On May 23, 1959, Doris married her late husband Julian Sanchez in Pueblo, Colorado and together they raised a beautiful, loving family. During that time, Doris retired from Hewlett-Packard after 28 years and was an active member of the American GI Forum as well as many other organizations.Doris was a devout Catholic. While living in Colorado Springs, she was active in the Corpus Christi Parish, serving as a Eucharistic Minister. In addition to practicing her faith, Doris stayed very busy contributing to worthy causes. She hosted numerous children's Christmas parties for the children in Aguilar where she resided. Doris will be best remembered for her generosity, love, and belief in the ability of others. She was her family's biggest cheerleader and had a heart of gold.She is survived by her second husband James G. Healey of Aguilar, CO; Her children, Deborah (Michael) Graham of Burke, Virginia, Laura Sanchez (Terry Vasquez) of Colorado Springs, Steve (Theresa) Sanchez of Colorado Springs, Gerald (Rosa Linda) Sanchez of Colorado Springs; brothers, Eugene Martinez of San Diego, California and Lucas Martinez of Las Vegas, Nevada along with many nieces and nephews that she adored.Doris has eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her twin sister, Delores and younger sister Janice Miller.Visitation, 5:00 PM-7:00PM, Tuesday, September 15, 2015 at The Springs Funeral Services. A Rosary will follow at 7:00PM in the Chapel. Funeral services will take place 10:00AM, Wednesday, September 16, 2015 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 2030 W. Colorado Avenue, Colorado Springs.
