Phyllis is in the back row on the end. It was such a pleasure meeting her at my daughter's birthday.

Just learning of this tragedy. I believe this is Phyllis Pelky who was a good friend of my daughter, Sara, while she resided in Montreal earning her master's degree. Both she and my daughter spoke German together. I have a picture of my daughter's birthday party where Phyllis is in the back on the end. I saw a tribute on a random fb feed and recognized the name and face. I informed my daughter who was not aware. She is trying to contact Phyllis's family. Sara is heartbroken. She spoke of what a loving wife and mother and genuinely kind and good, as well as very intelligent person she was. She truly admired her service to her fellowman and her example as a brave and strong woman. God Bless Her

a little something for Mrs. Pelky: ( The Hero's Path) "You risked your life for others Each and every day Understanding and accepting the potential cost That someday you might pay For such is the path of a Hero A terrain where only the brave would choose to go For 'tis like a mountain pass, narrow and rugged Far removed from the peaceful valley down below Yet you walked that difficult path daily Seeing harsh things, while doing such good And we loved and respected your courage More than you understood And you were a blessing to countless people Through your selfless and courageous deeds ..." ..."Your efforts will impact generations Through lives saved, and all the good you did Truly...you were OUR HERO And we all thank God that you lived!" In the name of colleagues, students, and friends of German Studies at McGill University, I would like to express our profound sadness at the loss of Phyllis. She was a lovely person, who inspired us with her a zest for life. Phyllis had a strong presence in German Studies, sharing her joy of being in Montreal and at McGill and fostering a strong sense of community amongst students, graduate students, and colleagues. She touched the lives of many here in Montreal. We mourn this tragic loss and will remember her warmly. Our thoughts are with Dave, her sons, and her family. It was a privilege to be her professor. I will never forget her.
