Obituary of Nela Arlene Waddle Brown

Nela Arlene Waddle Brown, age 100 and long-time resident of Colorado Springs, died Tuesday, October 13, 2015 at Life Care Center.Nela was born May 29, 1915 in Seiling, Oklahoma, along with her identical twin sister, Neva Maxine, to Cecil Ray and Thomas Waddle. She married Rev. Paul E. Brown on June 10, 1934. In 1942 they moved to Colorado Springs where they started a tour and sight-seeing business, Paul E. Brown Tours in Manitou Springs along with running the Corner Court Motel.In 1946 Paul became the pastor at Roswell Community Church where Nela met her life-long church family.During the 1970's Nela worked at Looart Press (now Current). Then after being widowed for almost 30 years, she married Rev. Ora Burdue, who was the pastor at Roswell Community Church, on February 12, 1994.Nela always enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.She is survived by her son, Arlen J. Brown and his wife Terri (Flores-Brown), seven grandchildren, Cindy (Hal) Tumbleson, Becky (Ron) Brown-Helget, J. Timothy Brown, Jenifer (Wes) Parr, Jared Shafer, Samantha (Brad) Zampich, Shelby Shafer; eleven great-grandchildren, Heather (Chris) Nordby, Geoff (Anna) Brown, Craig Brown, Chris Brown, Aaron Brown, Jenifer (Nicholas) Casale, Drew Brown, Karissa (Lex) Sanchez, Hayden, Trent & Ashlyn Parr. Six great-great grandchildren and two nephews, Tommy (Pat) Padgham of Midwest City, Oklahoma, C.A. (Jo) Cofer of Wichita, Kansas and their families. She was preceded in death by her first husband Paul, second husband Ora, older sister, Elpha Cofer; brother, Curtis Waddle and twin sister, Neva Padgham and grandson-in-law, Doug Brown.Visitation, 4:00PM-7:00PM, Sunday, October 18, 2015, at The Springs Funeral Services, 3115 East Platte Avenue.Funeral Service, 11:00AM, Monday, October 19, 2015, at The Springs Funeral Services.Burial at Evergreen Cemetery, 1005 S.
