Obituary of Leona Eleanor King
Leona E. King, age 103, passed away on October 24th, 2015, at the Laurel Manor Care Center in Colorado Springs, Colorado.She was a homemaker, who had previously worked as a machine operator for the American Insulator Company in New Freedom, Pennsylvania.Leona Eleanor Billett was born on June 26, 1912 in Baltimore County, Maryland to the late Charles and Mary (Cameron) Billett. As a youth she lived in Bentley Springs, Maryland, but spent her adult life in New Freedom, Pennsylvania. She married Bernard Joseph King in 1941.Her husband worked for the AMF Corporation in Glen Rock, Pennsylvania. Mr. King died in 1963 and Mrs. King later moved to Colorado to be closer to her family.Leona loved to crochet, make quilts, cultivate her flowers and attend church. She was a longtime member of the Mason Dixon Baptist Church in New Freedom, Pennsylvania. She was a member of the Bible Christian Church of Ellicott, Colorado at the time of her death.She will be remembered for her needlecraft, creativity and her green thumb. It seemed as if she was always working on something new.She is survived by her son; Rev. Joseph W. (Nancy) King of Ellicott, Colorado, four grandchildren, and eleven great grandchildren.
