Obituary of Leslie "Les" Leroy Lawson
Leslie L. Lawson, age 72, of Colorado Springs passed away on Sunday, October 25, 2015 following a heroic battle with esophageal cancer.Mr. Lawson was born on January 2, 1943 in Freeport, Illinois to the late George Leslie and Betty Jane (Lamb) Lawson. He was a 1962 graduate of Wasson High School. Following graduation, Les served in the Colorado National Guard. In 2005, Les retired from the Colorado Springs School District 11, where he served as Building Manager at Coronado High School, Wilson, Queen Palmer and Fremont Elementary Schools. Les was a gentle, quiet man who will be remembered by his family and friends for his thoughtfulness, patience and love of animals. In addition to gardening, he loved working with his hands and had a passion for carpentry and was a fine craftsman and artist. Mr. Lawson was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Linda Lynn. He is survived by the love of his life, Tama Turek, his brother Randy (Kathleen Sue) Lawson, his son Chad (Melinda) Lawson and Tama's sons Scott (Kelly) Turek, Anthony Turek, and his grandchildren; Franklin, Amanda, Benjamin, Elizabeth Lawson and Jackson and Addison Turek. A private service will be held for the immediate family at a future date. Donations may be made in Les' name to the American Cancer Society.
