Obituary of Lt. Col. Lewis "Bob" R. Bennington, USAF

Bob was born to Tola and Florence Bennington in Maywood, California. Soon after High School graduation he was drafted and was able to join the Army Air Corps. He was commissioned as a 2nd Lt. in November of 1944. He retired March 31, 1972. During his years in the Air Force he flew more than 20 types of aircraft. His last was a F105 during the Vietnam war. Flying was one of the greatest joys of his life.Bob was preceded in death by his first wife; Marian May, and by a son; Jeffery.He is survived by his five children; Steven, Richard, Kevin, Julie and Tracy, his wife; Karin and her three children; Dean, John, and Suzie, that he helped raise. Bo is also survived by fifteen grandchildren and four great grandchildren.There will be no formal service. We plan to get together at a later date with family and good friends to share wonderful stories of fun, laughter and adventures.Our whole family would like to show our great appreciation to the staff of MorningStar Senior Living in his last months, their support and care truly helped.
