Obituary of Earl Ray Shawley

Earl Shawley, 93, of Colorado Springs, Colorado died November 25, 2015 at his residence in Colorado Springs.He was born September 5, 1922 in Boston, Kentucky, the son of Tony and Lizzie (Collier) Shawley.In 1943, Earl moved from Kentucky to Champaign, Illinois. He was employed by the U.S. Civil Service at Chanute Technical Training Center, Chanute AFB, Illinois in August 1943. On August 23, 1952 he married his loving wife, Eloise (Schroeder) Shawley. He retired from his position as an aircraft electrician foreman in August 1974. In January 2001, Earl and Eloise moved to Colorado Springs, Colorado. Earl enjoyed fishing, hunting, working on his cars and feeding cardinals. He was an avid sports fan throughout his life. Earl was a member of Black Forrest Lutheran Church in Colorado Springs, and a member of Masonic Lodges in Champaign - Urbana and Danville, Illinois.He was preceded in death by his wife, Eloise, his brothers, Edward Burk (Blanche), Archie (Odelia), William (Eula), Les (Robbie), Clifford, James, Tony (Mirian); his sisters, Elizabeth (Paul) Jones and Margaret (Heinz) Deppen.He his survived by his daughter, Gail Shawley of Colorado Springs, Colorado.Earl was a loyal and devoted husband, father and friend and will be forever loved and missed.The family will hold a private memorial service.
