Obituary of Della Joan Stokes

Joan was a superior educator, having taught for 33 years in the Cheyenne, Wyoming schools, Aurora, Colorado schools and Air Academy District 20. She was in Special Education working with students with reading problems, perceptual handicaps and learning disabilities.After high school in Cheyenne, Wyoming Joan received an Associate Degree from Stephens College, a Bachelors Degree from the University of Wyoming and a Masters and Doctors Degree from the University of Colorado.At the University of Wyoming Joan was in the Alpha Chi Omega sorority and was a member of the local area Alpha Chi Omega Alumni organization. An active member of the Republican Party for decades she served as a precinct committee chairman, division leader and belonged to the El Paso County Republican Woman's Club.For years she volunteered as a Grand Friend at Keller Elementary School.The most important part of her life was her family.
