Obituary of George "Lee" Allgood
Our beloved Dad, Lee Allgood, passed away on December 15, 2015, surrounded by family at home. Dad was born in Atlanta, Georgia, on October 30, 1942 to Dollie Mae Lowe Allgood and George Nathaniel Allgood. As a child, Dad was a boy scout, recipient of numerous thrift, attendance, academic and other awards, worked a paper route and was an athlete. After graduating from Chamblee High School in 1960, he briefly attended Georgia Institute of Technology before he was selected for an appointment to the Air Force Academy (USAFA) in Colorado. Dad graduated from USAFA in 1965 with an engineering degree, a wife (Rhonda) and a new GTO. Dad next trained to fly jets at Vance Air Force Base in Oklahoma, where his first daughter, Tiffany, was born in 1966. After jet training, he was stationed at Travis Air Force base in California. In 1968, he was honorably discharged as a First Lieutenant from the Air Force in order to pursue a civilian career in computer technology in burgeoning Silicon Valley. In 1970, his second daughter, Tara, arrived.Dad had a very successful marketing and sales career. He worked for Fairchild, Signetics, Harris, Silicon Compilers, Daisy/Cadnetix, and S3, among others, eventually retiring in 2004 to spend time on Kauai, in Georgia, Florida, Tennessee and elsewhere. During his time in Silicon Valley, he divorced and married again (Lesley), added a stepdaughter (Lesley), bought a jaguar XKE andachieved an MBA from Pepperdine University. He traveled extensively for work. Co-workers held him in high regard for his loyalty, generosity, intelligence, integrity and kindness.Dad was devoted to his family and friends and was enormously generous and kind to everyone around him. He loved animals (especially dogs), taking walks, singing, vacationing in Hawaii, reading spy and action books, watching movies and taking naps. There is not a way to describe how much he will be missed. He was taken from us much too young from a glioblastoma but was courageous, selfless and witty until the end.Dad was preceded in death by his parents. Dad is survived by his daughter Tiffany (Angelo) and grandsons (Finn and Roy); daughter Tara (Daniel); siblings: John (Patricia), Sallie Wallace (Dick), and Steve (Jessica Stockwell); numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family; his ex-wife, Lesley O'Flaherty, her daughter and Dad's long-time step-daughter, Lesley Conde Trinley (Mike) and her sister and Dad's long-time sister-in-law, Erin O'Flaherty; and lifelongfriends such as Loretta (Garrett) Mulhall."He lifts his head above the earth; his pathway lies among the stars."
