Obituary of Col. Clifford W. Eisenach, USAF,

Clifford passed away suddenly on December 16, 2015 while on the US Air Force Academy. He was a man of family and faith, a community volunteer, and a proud Air Force Retiree. Clifford Wayne Eisenach was born on June 6, 1939 in Sterling, Colorado to Jacob and Katherine (Fiebig) Eisenach. He grew up near Sterling, Colorado, attended high school there and went on to graduate from Colorado State University in Fort Collins. He joined the Air Force in 1961 and served for 26 years. He was stationed at Medina AF Station, Texas; Kadena AFB, Okinawa; Tan Son Nhut, Vietnam; Offutt AFB, Nebraska (twice); Camp Smith, Hawaii; Nahkom Phenom AFB, Thailand; Lowry AFB, Colorado; Ramstein AFB, Germany; and Cheyenne Mountain AFB Station, Colorado.Cliff used his gifts of leadership not only in the Air Force but in his community. He was the Friends of the Garden of the Gods president from 1995-2004. He facilitated nature walks, nature presentations and bus tours there for over twenty years. He taught scripture classes at Benet Hill Monastery for thirteen years, and served on several of their leadership boards. Cliff played saxophone in the New Horizons Band for the last decade and was president of his Homeowners' Association in Gleneagle. He also sponsored foreign exchange students and USAFA cadets.He was an usher and Lay Eucharistic Minister and played saxaphone in the choir for many years at St. Michael's Parish at the USAFA Community Center Chapel. While in the Air Force, he played on numerous sports teams an coached youth football, basketball and baseball. He placed great value being a husband to his wife of fifty years, and a proud father to his three sons. He loved being a grandfather to his seven grandchildren.He is survived by his loving wife, Jane of Gleneagle, Colorado, who he married on December 29, 1961; and his three sons: Brian (Debbie) Eisenach of Berlin, Germany; Calvin (Amy) Eisenach of Colorado Springs, Colorado; and David (Jennifer) Eisenach of San Antonio, Texas. He is also survived by his brother: Gerald (Dottie) Eisenach of Denver, Colorado; and his sisters: Bernice Heist of Sterling, Colorado and Shirley Eisenach of Sterling. He has seven wonderful grandchildren: Clayton, Rebecca, Jacob, Elizabeth, Preston, Collin and Peyton Eisenach. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother: Gene and sister in law: Mildred. Memorial Mass, 10:00AM on Friday, January 8, 2015 at St. Peter Catholic Church, 55 Jefferson Street, Monument, Colorado. A luncheon reception will follow at the church. Private Interment will take place at Fort Logan National Cemetery in Denver.In lieu of flowers memorials in his memory may be made to the Friends of New Horizons Band or Benet Hill Monastery. Cliff brought much meaning and joy into the lives of others through his generosity and sense of humor.
