Obituary of Linda Joy Benjamin
Linda Joy Benjamin, age 55, passed away unexpectedly on January 8, 2016 after a long, courageous battle with a very rare neurological disease, Neuroacanthocytosis. She was diagnosed with this in 2003. She was a loving daughter, mother, grandmother and woman of faith.Linda Joy Shumpert was born on July 24, 1960 in Denver, Colorado to Pastor David and (Beverly June Moseley) Shumpert. She was a 1978 graduate of Kubasaki, High School in Okinawa, Japan. She then was trained as a Military Police Dispatcher with the Marine Corps. She then began a long occupation as a waitress, first with White Spot in Denver, and then with the Denny's Corporation in Yuma, Arizona. She is survived by her parents and caregivers: Pastor Dave and Beverly Shumpert of Calhan, Colorado; her daughter: Jessica Anne (Leland) Acker of Brownwood, Texas and her son: Gunnery Sgt. Jeremiah (Courtney) Benjamin, USMC of Camp LeJeune, North Carolina. She has seven grandchildren: Rachel, Joziah, Joshua, John, David, Venicia and Isaac. She is also survived by her brother: David E. (Doreen) Shumpert; her sisters: Linda (Tom) Morgan and Carolyn (Bob) Weber. She was preceded in death by her brother: Paul Shumpert, who passed away in 2008.Linda Joy loved the Lord, her Savior, Jesus Christ. She knew that He was with her through everything. She was a wonderful woman who loved her family. She was happiest when she was surrounded by those she loved. She had a beautiful smile, big, brown eyes that twinkled and spoke volumes. Her absence is already felt. She is now in presence of the Living Father and His Son, Jesus Christ, never to suffer again, singing and rejoicing in His presence. Homecoming Celebration, 10:00AM, Thursday, January 14, 2016 at The Cowboy Church of Peyton, 15504 Bradshaw Road, Peyton, Colorado 80831. A reception will follow the services.
