Obituary of Ron Lawrence Brabander
Ron Brabander, 58, of Woodland Park, Colorado, died on Friday, February 5th, 2016, in an avalanche while snowbiking in the Rocky Mountains. The accident occurred in the back country in the Lost Lake area near Cottonwood Pass. Ron loved snowmobiling and all types of motor sports, and was happiest when he was on his trials bike, his stand up jet ski, and his new snow bike. He was an expert rider who conquered every extreme single track he could find, and who for whom joy meant fresh tracks and endless side hills in the deep powder. Ron explored every nook and cranny of his new home state of Colorado, where he had recently moved. He had a terrific sense of humor and a quick wit, and always could make people laugh. His generosity and kindness were noted by everyone who was part of his life. With his work, Ron had the ability to fix anything, and while working in engineering for Gateway Computers invented a PC monitor testing method, for which he holds a patent. Ron grew up in Pierre, South Dakota, and lived for decades in McCook Lake. He was a devoted son to his parents Wally and Gloria and took care of them both for many years until their deaths. Ron is survived by his sister Cindy of Chagrin Falls, Ohio, his aunt Marion Pratt of Kingsley, Iowa, and numerous cousins in Iowa, Oregon, and California. A memorial celebration of his life will be held over the July 4th weekend and will be posted on his Facebook memorial page. Memorials can be sent to Chaffee County Search and Rescue - North, at P.O.
