Obituary of LTC Scott B. Harrod, USAF

Scott B. Harrod, 61, of Schertz, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, February 23, 2016, following a brief illness.He was born February 18, 1955, in Shelbyville, Kentucky, the son of Clarence and Nancy Lee Byrnside Harrod. After graduating from the United States Air Force Academy in 1977 (33rd Squadron), he was a pilot in the United States Air Force and served twenty one years -- retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel in 1998. Committed to his family and community, he was an active member at First Baptist Church Universal City for many years and recently attended Community Bible Church in San Antonio. He was a trustee for the Schertz-Cibolo-Universal City ISD for ten years. He loved books, history, music and Kentucky basketball. But most of all, he loved and invested his time in people. He was a peacemaker with a servant's heart. He will be greatly missed.He is survived by his wife of over thirty years, Anita (Thompson) Harrod, his two daughters; Sara Harrod and Kimberly Harrod Plourde (Daniel Plourde son-in-law), stepson; Jeff Pollock, sister; Vanessa Harrod, three beloved grandchildren; Samuel, Joshua and Caroline Plourde, and many close friends. Graveside Service with Full Military Honors, 10:00AM, Wednesday, March 2, 2016 at the United States Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colorado. In lieu of flowers, family requests donations be made to the Fisher House at San Antonio Military Medical Center.
