Obituary of James Loring Bates

Jim Bates, age 83, died on March 9, 2016 in Colorado Springs, Colorado after a long illness.James Loring Bates was born in Detroit, Michigan where he grew up. He married the love of his life, Annmarie, and they raised their children in Michigan before moving to Colorado Springs, Colorado. Jim retired from the City of Colorado Springs as Director of Community Development with many awards and accomplishments.Jim served in Christian ministries for over 38 years with Annmarie at his side. He was an elder at his local church and held several positions with Full Gospel Mens fellowship. Jim and Annmarie were able to travel throughout the United States and Africa while being apart of many Christian ministries. He is survived by his wife, Annmarie; his son, Kevin (Michele) Bates of Clarkston, Michigan; his daughter, Denise Flynn of Rochester, Michigan; his brothers, Gerald (Darlynn) Bates of Plattsburg, New York, and David (Joyce) Bates of Elgin, Illinois. Also surviving are five grandchildren, Sarah (Trevor) Weston of Royal Oak, Michigan, Michelle (Wade) Dobson of Rochester, Michigan, Robert Flynn of Austin, Texas, Benjamin Bates of College Station, Texas, and Clare Bates of Clarkston, Michigan; and five great-granddaughters.Memorial Service 3:00PM, Wednesday, March 16, 2016, New Life Church- World Prayer Center, 11005 Voyager Parkway, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80908 .
