Obituary of Jasper Nelba Page

Jasper Page, age 83, passed away on March 23, 2016, at his home in Calhan, Colorado. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Jasper Nelba Page was born on March 27, 1932, in Moselle, Mississippi, to the late J.W. and Vannie (Fairchild) Page. He was raised in Hattiesburg, MS, and received his Associate's degree from Red Rocks Community College in Denver, CO. He served his country in the United States Air Force from 1951 through 1971 and retired Honorably as a Vietnam POW and National Defense Service Medal recipient. He retired from the Department of Defense at Lowry AFB in Aurora, CO, where he served from 1971 until 1994 as an Electrician and Intrusion Alarm Specialist. He also retired from the Calhan Public School District after 15 years of service as a school bus driver. Jasper married Yvonne Marie Johnson on April 3, 1965, in Ironwood, Michigan. He is survived by his wife: Yvonne Page of Calhan, CO; his daughter: Rosezann Freeman of Petal, MS; his son: Rodney Page of Petal, MS; and his son: Victor (Dawna) Page of Iowa City, IA. Jasper is also survived by seven grandchildren: April (Chris) Ainsworth of Petal, MS; Memorie (Brett) Sanford of Seminary, MS; Regan (Chris) Byrd of Laurel, MS; Jasper (Montana) Page of Seminary, MS; and Soli Page, Zac Page, and Aiden Page of Iowa City, IA; as well as five great-grandchildren. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 2, 2016, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Calhan, Colorado. Interment with full military honors will be held at a future date at Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, VA. Memorial donations may be made to the St. Jude Children's Hospital, Habitat for Humanity, or the V. E. and Aina Johnson Scholarship Fund, Midland University, Fremont, NE.
