Obituary of Sandra Jean Bennett
Sandra Bennett, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, daughter and friend went to be with her Lord and Savior on March 23, 2016. Sandra was native Coloradoan from Colorado Springs where she lived her entire life. Born to Violet and Keith Fleener, she grew up in a home her dad built with her sisters, Judy and Norma. In her childhood, Sandra loved animals especially her dog, Blackie. Riding bikes and playing in the neighborhood made for an ideal childhood. She also helped her mother grow flowers, cook and paint. She attended Palmer High School (otherwise known as Colorado Springs High School) which is where all three of her children also attended. After graduation, she worked at Preferred Risk Insurance Company and then met and married her husband, Jim. As a young mother, she carefully cared for her three children, teaching them the beauty of the birds, flowers and the Love of God she deeply held. Sandra was an avid reader, and it was very important to her to pass the gift of literacy to her children. Her dedication to her husband and children was clear until the very end of her life. She gave sweetness to everyone who was around her.Sandra helped so many people in her world. Her volunteer service included working with children at an elementary school who struggled with reading, working at the homeless shelter to dress women for job interviews, Navigators, and with the children and ladies at church. She had an intimate, resolute, confident walk with her Savior. Her love of the Lord was apparent in the generous spirit she exhibited to everyone. Even when times were tough, Sandra would find ways to give of herself and possessions. She thoroughly enjoyed singing in the church choir, trips to the mountains for picnics and adventures, arranging flowers, attending bible studies, making an amazing home for her family and delighting in any time spent with her grandchildren, all of this and more made her life remarkable. She will be deeply missed by her husband of 57 years, Jim Bennett; children, Patrick and Allison Bennett, Joy and Neil Rosenberger; her grandchildren, Carter & Madison Bennett, Nathan & Caleb Rosenberger and Sarah Bennett/Niell; as well as her great-grandchildren, Evelyn Niell, Gabriella Rosenberger, and Violet. She was preceded in death by her son, Keith.Memorial Service, 1:00PM, Saturday, April 2, 2016, Cheyenne Mountain Presbyterian Church, 4450 Westmeadow Drive, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80906.Funeral Home:The Springs Funeral Services3115 East Platte AvenueColorado Springs, , COUS 80909
