Obituary of Yvonne J Waters

Yvonne J Waters passed away peacefully on April 2, 2016, from lung cancer. She was diagnosed just a month previous and therefore her passing so quickly was quite unexpected and a shock to her family and friends. She was born May 20, 1935 in the borough of Whitechapel, London, England, (a cockney by all rights) and was daughter of David and Fay (Rosenberg) Jacobs. She grew up in Stoke Newington area but was evacuated for a short time to Penarth, Wales, during the London blitz of WWII. During her early years she was an avid swimmer, excelled in most track and field sports and loved ice skating. After graduating from secondary school she attended Pitman's Secretarial College which provided her with several job opportunities. She moved to the United States in 1954 as the wife of Windol B Foley, which subsequently ended in divorce. Then in 1970, she married her husband of 45 years, CMSgt Thomas J. Waters, and resided in Universal City, Texas. In 1975, she traveled to Germany with her family during which time she became very active with the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts, as a leader and organizer. She continued her love affair with the Girl Scouts upon her return to the States in 1978 at Randolph AFB, Texas. As a wife and homemaker, she worked at several jobs at Randolph AFB doing secretarial work and was exceptionally supportive of her husband in his Air Force career. Yvonne was active in the local British Wives Club, the Red Hat Society, and doing volunteer work for the VNA and Hospice of South Texas. She moved with her husband to Colorado Springs, Colorado in 2014 to be near her daughter's family and to enjoy cooler weather. She is survived by her loving husband, Tom; son, Russell Foley; daughters, Sharon Morales and Michelle Alt; grandchildren, Courtney Clark, Ryan Clark, Mikayla Alt, Nik Alt; sister, Estelle Barnsley, who resides in England; many cousins and family across the globe; and her cat, Sweetie. A Jewish ceremony will be held at The Springs Funeral Services, 3115 East Platte Avenue, Colorado Springs, Colorado at 1:00PM, Sunday, April 10, 2016.Graveside Service, 12:30PM, Monday, April 11, 2016, Fort Logan National Cemetery, 3698 South Sheridan Boulevard, Denver, Colorado, 80235, Staging Area "B".
