Obituary of Caren June Evans

Caren June Evans, 60, passed away in her Monument home Tuesday, April 19, 2016.Born in Detroit, Michigan on February 7, 1956, she was the only daughter of Marvin Rudolph Nelsen and June Armour Nelsen.In her youth they enjoyed many road trips and camping throughout the United States, and in 1972 her family moved to the Colorado Springs area.At age 18, she moved to Sioux City, Iowa to marry her soul-mate, Randall Joe Evans. They had two daughters, Jessica and Cassie, and in 1980, the family returned to Colorado. Caren was very involved in her children's 4-H, and also cultivated her garden, enjoyed friends, and took care of many different pets. By 1985, Caren attained her degree in graphic arts. She worked first as a printing press operator, then a trophy shop, and later her own home business.In 1993 Randy's work took them to Stillwater, Oklahoma, but they returned to Colorado in 1996, where Caren completed her RN in 1998. Caren's work included home health, Boulder Community Hospital, a rheumatologist's office as head nurse, and later in Colorado Springs, she worked for Special Kids Special Families. She volunteered her skills in the Dominican Republic on two medical missions.Caren also explored diverse interests such painting, taking saxophone lessons, participating in sprint triathlons, and traveling with Randy. With Jessica, she enjoyed hiking in the mountains, and with Cassie, she enjoyed sharing interesting books.
