Obituary of Brenda Lee Mendez
Brenda (Uber) Mendez joined her Lord Jesus Christ in eternal life on May 2, 2016 after a courageous battle with stomach cancer. She is survived by her parents Mary (Lu) Uber-Shumway of Mechanicville, New York and David Uber of Clifton Park, New York. Brenda leaves behind her husband and the love of her life LCDR Jason J. Mendez, USN (Ret.) of Amsterdam, New York and four amazing children, Jovanina Marie, Michael Xavier, Isabella Rose and Angelica Faith, all of Colorado Springs. She is also survived by her step parents William Shumway and Nancy Uber, her sister Randi Lynn Duncan of Clifton Park, and numerous family members.Brenda was a 1993 graduate of Shenendehowa High School and 1995 graduate of Hudson Valley Community College. Brenda married on May 17, 1997 in Amsterdam, New York. She was a loving and committed wife, and mother. An avid body builder and personal trainer, who enjoyed going to the gym, camping, hiking and being outdoors with her family. Brenda was a source of inspiration to everyone she met and showed great compassion for others. She was known as "Wonder Woman" to her family, friends, and more recently her medical staff."Family and friends are invited to her funeral mass at 1:00 PM May 7, 2016 at St. Gabriel the Archangel Catholic Church, Colorado Springs, Colorado. The memorial service will be held at Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, 200 Duell Rd, Schuylerville, New York, on May 27, 2016, with a reception to follow at 242 Lapp Rd, Clifton Park, New York.
