Obituary of Maria Luise Minjarez
Maria Luise Hahl was born on April 26, 1940. She grew up in Mannheim, Germany with her siblings and mother. She met and eventually married Arthur Minjarez in Germany, who was stationed with the U.S. Army at Coleman Barracks. Maria had a beautiful daughter named Petra and a few years later, her only son, Arthur Joe Ben came along. In 1969, Art Sr. got stationed to Ft. Hood in Killeen, Texas. This was Maria's first time in the United States, which she would eventually call her home.In 1971, Maria and her family moved to La Junta, Colorado, to be closer to Art Sr.'s mother and father until his return from Vietnam. In 1972, Art Sr. got stationed to Gelnhausen, Germany. Maria would be in her native country for 3 years. In 1974, Art Sr. received his final duty assignment to Ft. Carson, Colorado, up until his retirement from the U.S. army in 1975. They moved to La Junta, Colorado for 8 years, then moved to Colorado Springs in 1983, marking the end of moving to any other city. During this period, Maria and Art Sr. enjoyed many good times with family, who resided throughout the city. In 2005 and the next few years, Maria and Art Sr. were challenged with some medical conditions. Both were strong, fought hard, and they prevailed, enjoying their cottage house together. In 2011, Art Sr.'s battle with his health conditions started to worsen, as he struggled to "fight the good fight" to the end. He passed away on December 18, 2011. Maria, Art Jr., Rene, and all the rest of the Minjarez family were devastated. In 2012, Maria sold the cottage house where she and her husband had lived for so many years and moved to a townhouse apartment, close to Art Jr. and Rene's home. Maria loved watching Turner classic movies and eating Neapolitan ice-cream.Maria moved in with Art Jr. and Rene in October of 2015. She enjoying celebrating her final Thanksgiving, Christmas, Valentine's Day, Easter, Birthday, and Mother's Day with the family she loved. She lost her struggle on July 22, 2016.Her family will never forget how deeply she touched all of their lives. She will be forever present in their hearts and they have faith that one day they will all be reunited again.Funeral Home:The Springs Funeral Services3115 East Platte AvenueColorado Springs, , COUS 80909
