Obituary of CMSgt Thomas "Tom" Spencer Fortune
Thomas "Tom" Fortune went to be with his Lord at age 75 in Colorado Springs, Colorado. He was born in Atchison, Kansas and moved to the Detroit, Michigan area and lived there until he joined the U.S. Air Force in 1961. In 1962, Tom married the love of his life, Jerilyn "Jerry" Savorgino, resulting in many "Tom & Jerry" comments. Tom made a career of the Air Force, retiring in 1986 as a Chief Master Sergeant. During his career he was stationed in Mississippi, Texas, Tennessee, Alaska, Colorado and the Philippines. While in the Air Force, he graduated from Regis University with a BS in Technical Management. After retiring from the Air Force, he worked for several Government Contractors. After retirement, he volunteered at several on base functions and a local credit union. He enjoyed watching sports and attending sporting events of his two grandchildren, as well as traveling.He is survived by his wife and love, Jerry; one son, Kent Fortune and spouse Stephannie; one daughter, Karin Schamberger and spouse Terry; and two grandsons, Peyton and Evan Schamberger.Funeral Service, 10:00AM, Friday, August 5, 2016 at First Southern Baptist Church, 1409 Palmer Park Boulevard, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80909.Graveside Service, 12:15PM, Monday, August 8, 2016 at Fort Logan National Cemetery, 3698 South Sheridan Boulevard, Denver, Colorado 80235.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to National Kidney Foundations, First Southern Baptist Church, or Pikes Peak Hospice.Funeral Home:The Springs Funeral Services3115 East Platte AvenueColorado Springs, , COUS 80909
