Obituary of Don Lee Herron

Don Lee Herron of Colorado Springs, Colorado, passed away on September 13, 2016.Don was born to George and Irene (Wilborn) Herron, of Protection, Kansas on June 1, 1941. He followed in his father's footsteps, working on their Oklahoma wheat farm. Later, he joined George in his mechanics business. He volunteered for the fire department, the ambulance service, police force, and served on the city council. He was a long standing member of the Baptist Church.Don moved his family to Cañon City, Colorado in 1975, where he enjoyed hunting and fishing with good friends. He continued with mechanics as well as becoming very skilled in construction. His interest in knowing how things are built also led him to welding, plumbing, and electrical. He loved passing on his knowledge and taught many people skills that they have used for life.Don often enjoyed visiting family and friends in his home town of Protection, Kansas. He was happy to join in on the wheat harvest every year. He was loved and respected by many there, and will be missed.He is survived by his wife, Nancy Herron; a son, Evan Herron; a daughter, Sara Reiter; two stepsons, Mitch Reiter, and Mike Reiter; six stepdaughters, Cindy Farris, Barbara Dereiter, Rochelle Reiter, Linda Ager, Sherri Jorgensen, and Michelle Andenno; and his four grandchildren, Daxton, Zach, Nicholas, and Alex.
