Obituary of MSGT Gerard "Gerry" Canovatchel

MSGT Gerard Canovatchel, USAF, (Ret.), age 53, died on Saturday, September 17, 2016 at his home in rural Falcon, Colorado. He had retired from the United States Air Force and was a Network Engineer for Braxton Technology. He was a wonderful husband, father, brother, son, and friend to many.Gerard Canovatchel was born on December 20, 1962 in New York, New York to William Franklin and Eileen T. (Neary) Canovatchel. He grew up on Long Island and graduated from Cary High School in North Carolina, where he moved with his parents when he was 16. He married Karen Louis Pippin on August 13, 1983 in Fontana, California. He would go on to finish college in Colorado Springs at the University of Phoenix, Colorado Campus.Master Sergeant Canovatchel served in the United States Air Force in Turkey, Germany, and various assignments in the United States. He served for twenty years and then went into the same field with Braxton Technology as military contractors. Gerry enjoyed hunting, camping, bonfires, fishing and the great outdoors. He loved to work with his hands and especially loved woodworking. He was a person who put family first and had a great sense of humor.He is survived by his wife, Karen of Falcon; his sons, William and Richard Canovatchel, also of Falcon; his daughter, Shauna Canovatchel of Phoenix, Arizona; his mother, Eileen Canovatchel; and his two brothers, Frank Canovatchel and Dr. William (Donna) Canovatchel of New York.Visitation, 10:00AM-11:00AM, Saturday, September 24, 2016, The Springs Funeral Services-North, 6575 Oakwood Boulevard, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80923.
