Obituary of Larilyn Marie Wentz

Larilyn Marie (Kelleher) Wentz, age 89, entered into eternal life on September 22, 2016. Larilyn was member of the Catholic church and a native of Colorado Springs.Larilyn was born to the late John Lawrence and Evelyn (Garnier) Kelleher on September 25, 1926, the eldest of six children. After graduating from Saint Mary's High School, Larilyn became a member of Chicago National Association of Dancing Masters, which certified her to teach ballroom, tap and ballet. She taught for many years with her aunt and dance mentor, the late Miss Mary Rose Kelleher, at the renowned Kelleher School of Dance in Colorado Springs. Larilyn was a lifelong dancer beginning at the age of six, and performed in many of the Kelleher School of Dance Revues. Larilyn also did exhibition ballroom dancing with Jim Wentz, whom she later married in 1952. Larilyn enjoyed employment as a secretary and building manager and attending church, round dancing, square dancing, traveling with friends, and spending time with her family.Larilyn is survived by daughters, Carolyn Moon and Julie (Bob) Eggen; son, Jim (Shannon) Wentz; grandchildren, Andrew (Tish) Moon, Kendra (Charlie) Teeter, Judd Eggen, Zachary, Caitlin, Tyler and Gunnar Wentz; two step-grandsons, Will and Jack; and great-grandchildren, Sierra, Lylli, Eli, and Kyra. She is also survived by her former husband, Jim; her sisters, Joan Bradford, Kay Spartz, Nancy Olson, and Sue Davern; as well as extended family and many friends. Larilyn was preceded in death by her brother, John; granddaughter, Carolyn Marie; and great-grandson, Avery James.Larilyn's family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to special friend, Marsha, and to Pikes Peak Hospice and Palliative Care for their loving care and support. Rosary will be held at 10:30AM, with a Memorial Mass at 11:00AM on Thursday, September 29, 2016 at Divine Redeemer Catholic Church, 927 North Logan Avenue, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80909, followed by a reception. Inurnment will be at Evergreen Cemetery.
