Obituary of LTC Scott Michael Maser, USAF,

Scott M. Maser, age 51, passed away on October 23, 2016 following a four-month battle with leukemia. Scott was born on June 15, 1965 to Jack and Terry Maser in Glen Cove, New York. He attended the United States Air Force Academy graduating in 1987. He proudly served for over twenty years in the Air Force retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel. He was a career pilot who flew the C-5, T-37, and T-38 planes and the sailplane at the Air Force Academy. He also served in Presidential Airlift Support before returning to lead the 3rd Airlift Squadron as the Operations Officer during Operations ENDURING and IRAQI FREEDOM. Later he returned to the Air Force Academy to command the 34th Training Squadron where he was responsible for the military training of the entire cadet wing. His military career culminated as the 1st Group Air Officer Commanding leading ten squadrons in the officer development of over 1000 cadets. Following retirement, he continued his life of service at NORAD/USNORTHCOM in Information Technology.Scott was known first and foremost as a devoted husband and father. He lovingly served his wife and six children every moment of every day. Through his example, he raised some of the most loving, caring, and successful children a father could possibly imagine. Those qualities translated to his Air Force family as well. As a leader, he was noted for his dedication to his team and his passion for ensuring his airmen were always fully prepared for success in countless long missions supporting military operations overseas. In all aspects of his life he was ultimately known as a servant leader who always put the needs of others before his own.
