Obituary of Amie Jo Ross

Amie Jo Ross, 66, has entered into the Valley of Everlasting Light. She rests in Peace after having endured a sixteen-year challenge with a non-operable malignant brain tumor. She ended her struggles on November 5, 2016 and passed peacefully at her home with her family at her side.Amie was born July 18, 1950 in Waterloo, Iowa to Donald and Darlene (Risdon) Miller and grew up in Independence, Iowa. She graduated from Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Education and had been a first and second grade teacher at Explorer Elementary School, Academy School District 20. She was Teacher of the Year in 1993. In 1996, Amie retired to become a full time homemaker.She was married to Dr. Ray Ross on June 24, 1993, who survives her. She is survived also by her son, Matthew (Deidra) Headley; her daughter, Kristin Headley (Ryan) Clark; her stepson, Raymond Ross, Jr.; two stepdaughters, Diana Ross (Lennie) Petrocelli and Claudia Ross (Joe) Flores; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.A Celebration of Amie's Life will be held, 2:00PM, Saturday, January 7, 2017 at the Elks Lodge 309, 3400 North Nevada Avenue, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80907.Memorial contributions may be made in Amie's memory to the American Brain Tumor Association, 8550 W.
