Obituary of Darrel Eugene Charest
Darrel Eugene Charest was the first child born to Leon Gabriel Charest and Mildred Range Charest. They lived in Rosalia Siding, Washington. He graduated from high school in Spokane, Washington in 1943. He was in the U.S. Navy during WWII. His federal work career of three decades began with the Civil Aeronautics Administration as a radio operator at multiple sites in Alaska. He advanced to Air Traffic Controller with the Federal Aviation Administration. He was a flight instructor with multiple certifications.During retirement, he developed his videography skills into a business. He continued to listen to and understand Morse code. His hobbies included golf and bowling.He was married to Dorlis Elaine Evans from 1945 to 1962; they had three children. Darrel married Marie Ellen Charest (NEE Chong Cha Park) in 1969; her daughter was adopted by Darrel. Darrel joined the Roman Catholic Church, along with his wife, about age sixty.He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Marian Charest Moore Pon. His survivors include his wife, Marie; daughters, Susan Elaine Charest Wickiser (Jimmy), Carolyn Jean Charest, and Debra Jean Charest Kemper (Doug); and son, Lee Richard Charest (Sandra).Darrel is also survived by his nine grandchildren, their spouses, and thirteen great-grandchildren.Memorial Service, 2:00PM, Wednesday, November 30, 2016 at The Springs Funeral Services, 3115 East Platte Avenue, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80909.Funeral Home:The Springs Funeral Services3115 East Platte AvenueColorado Springs, , COUS 80909
