Obituary of Edith "Edie" Mary Christine Rodvold

Long-time Colorado Springs resident Edie Rodvold passed away at age 88, Sunday, December 4, 2016. Edie was born November 20, 1928 in Bismarck, North Dakota, and grew up in Glen Ullin, North Dakota, where her family settled after immigrating to the United States. She graduated from Glen Ullin High School in 1946.After working in a variety of jobs around the country, including as a telephone operator in the Territory of Alaska, Edie eventually made her way to Rapid City, South Dakota, where she met Bud Rodvold, who she married in 1954. Bud and Edie were married for over fifty-nine years at the time of Bud's passing in 2014.While living in Rapid City, they had two sons, Keith (1958) and David (1960). After working in several administrative jobs in the 1960s, Edie found her calling as a school secretary in 1969. She worked at a Stevens High School in Rapid City until the family moved to Colorado Springs in 1973. In Colorado Springs, she worked at Fremont Elementary until her retirement.Edie loved cooking and sewing, and enjoyed camping with family and friends. She was also active with the Sons of Norway fraternal organization and also served in a variety of capacities with the Lutheran Churches that she belonged to, including church secretary and organist.Edie was preceded in death by her parents, Alice and Michael Tschida; her sisters, Jeanne (who passed away in Bismarck only a few hours before Edie) and Sonya; and her son, Keith.She is survived by her son, David (Stephany); and two grandsons, John (Emily) and Steven.Memorial Service, 2:00PM, Saturday, December 10, 2016 at Bethel Lutheran Church, 4925 Farmingdale Drive, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80917.
