Obituary of Patricia Monica Avery
Patricia M. Avery died Thursday, Dec. 8, 2016 after a brief hospitalization. She was 87.She was also charming, funny, and beloved.Born in Liverpool on October 25, 1929, to Henry and Katherine Fell, Patricia was the second youngest of nine children. She married Walter Avery, a U.S. Air Force technical sergeant, in 1958. They raised five children in three countries, finally settling in Colorado Springs. Patricia was proudly British and Catholic. She loved mysteries and tea, crosswords and marmalade, all of them much better if they were British. In her younger days, she chaperoned children and dogs up and down the Colorado mountains in search of the best picnicking spots. She baked, raised flowers in her garden, enjoyed Sunday dinners with family and, in her later years, playing with her grandchildren.Patricia was a member of the congregation at Peterson Air Force Base for many years. She had a gift for silliness and was always ready with a joke or bit of sarcasm. She is missed. She is survived by her children: Andrew Avery; Sean Avery and his wife, Stephanie; Daniel Avery and his wife, Leslie; Lisa Avery and her husband, David Barndollar; Greg Avery and his wife, Elizabeth Lichtenstein; grandchildren David Avery, and his wife, Eleanor; Elijah Avery; Liam Avery; Raphael Avery; Rowan Barndollar; Lucinda Avery; great-granddaughter Madison Avery and, soon, her sibling.Graveside service, 1:15PM, Friday, January 27, 2017 at Fort Logan National Cemetery, Denver, Colorado. In lieu of flowers, donations to Catholic Charities of Central Colorado; Global Down Syndrome Foundation, in Denver; St. Joseph's Indian School, in South Dakota.Funeral Home:The Springs Funeral Services3115 East Platte AvenueColorado Springs, , COUS 80909
