Obituary of Major David Jude Goodale, USAF

Maj. David J. Goodale, born November 3, 1981 to Tracy and Maxine Goodale of Colorado Springs, went to be with Jesus on December 12, 2016 in San Antonio, Texas after a year long battle with pseudotumoral brain inflammation. David is survived by his parents, Tracy and Maxine Goodale; wife, Jacque; children, Desilyn, Jude, Avery, and Nina; grandmother, Mary Goodale; aunt and uncle, Becky and Walt Williams; aunt, Gwynn Hall; cousins, Tina McMillin, Candace Bailey, and Melody Antles. David was preceded in death by his grandfathers, James Hall and Jude Goodale; his grandmother, Irene Hall; and his uncle, Floyd Hall. David was a man after God's heart and served God, his family, friends, and the U.S. Air Force faithfully. He graduated from Palmer High School in Colorado Springs, Colorado in 2000. After graduating from the Air Force Academy in 2004, David was stationed at Minot AFB awaiting pilot training, which he then completed at Moody AFB, Georgia, Laughlin AFB, Texas, and Altus AFB, Oklahoma for specialized C-17 training. His first assignment was to McChord AFB, Washington, where he completed missions to various regions including Iraq, Afghanistan, Turkey, South America, and the Pacific Rim. David was then assigned as a C-17 instructor pilot at Altus AFB. While assigned there, he deployed to the U.S. Embassy in Ethiopia before returning to work with the integration team for the Air Force's new KC-46 air refueling airframe. As he awaited his next assignment, he was selected for an AF developmental education program in Madrid, Spain. The Lord then changed his path of earthly plans and assignments and gave David his final assignment to give everything he could physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually to leave a legacy of love in our Lord Jesus' name. In November 2015, after suffering from headaches and vision problems, David was diagnosed with a mass deep in his brain (hypothalamus). The Lord brought him through a difficult craniotomy, from which he healed as planned. But the mysterious disease continued to literally eat away at his brain tissue. After fighting the good fight and keeping faith for over a year, the Lord gave David eternal rest in Jesus' name and had David breathe his last breath on December 12, 2016. Major David Goodale will be laid to rest at 10:00AM, December 29, 2016 at the U. S. Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colorado, with full military honors. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the David Goodale KMI Scholarship. It will allow airmen and college students to attend the Navigator's annual Key Men Discipleship Conference.
