Obituary of Wayne Gordon Stegman
Wayne Gordon Stegman, 78, of Colorado Springs, Colorado, passed away at his home after a long battle with cancer.He is survived by his wife of fifty-six years, Barbara L. Stegman; his three children, Gretchen, Peter, and Heidi; a sister, Karen (John) Chapman; as well as twelve grandchildren and a great-grandson.Wayne was born in Racine, Wisconsin and attended Carthage College, graduating in 1960. He received his Master's in Education from the University of Wisconsin, and continued his education at the University of Colorado.Wayne and Barbara moved to Colorado in 1968, where Wayne worked for thirty years for school District 11. After retirement, Wayne and Barbara joined the Peace Corps and spent nearly three years in service to Latvia.Wayne had a love of travel, was a talented tennis player, and a serious wine and cooking enthusiast. He was also a passionate collector of southwestern Indian art and artifacts. He was also docent for many years at the Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center.To Wayne, family was everything. He was a loving and devoted husband, an affectionate and caring father, and was particularly fond of all his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was greatly loved and will be genuinely missed by his family, friends and colleagues.Memorial Service, 2:00PM, Wednesday, December 21, 2016 at the Broadmoor Community Church, 315 Lake Avenue, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80906.
