Obituary of Dinah "Dee" Lee Shope

Dee Shope, age 69, died on December 13, 2016 at a local hospital after a brief illness. She was a retired LPN and had most recently worked at the Mount Saint Francis Care Center in Colorado Springs.Dinah Lee Shope was born on March 21, 1947 in Dover, Delaware to the late George and Margaret (Thornley) Best. She grew up in Dover and was a 1965 graduate of Caesar Rodney High School. She then attended nursing school in Philadelphia. She met and soon married Jerry Collins. They moved to Colorado in 1981 to raise their three children. They were later divorced. She met Larry Shope, moved to Florida and was remarried in 1994. She worked in Gainesville, Florida; Sarasota, Florida; Altamont Springs, Florida; Larry died in 1999 and Dee never recovered from the loss. She then settled in Colorado Springs to be with family. She loved the beaches of Florida, her grandchildren and especially her beloved dog, "Mandy."She is survived by her children: Dan Collins, Lindsay Collins, Molly (and Alvin ) Torrence of Calhan, Colorado and her brother: George Best, Jr. of Henderson, Maryland.Dee has five wonderful grandchildren: Mackenzie, Brandon, Katie, Megan and Allison.
