Obituary of Connie Earlene Greer
Connie Earlene (Bearden) Greer passed away on Monday, December 19, 2016 in her Colorado Springs home with her husband at her side. She died at the age of 64 of breast cancer after a seventeen-year fight.Born in 1952 in Compton, California, Connie was the middle of five children and grew up in Torrance, California at the center of the iconic 1960's Redondo Beach scene. She graduated from South High School in 1970 and Santa Ana College in 1980, and became a Certified Court Reporter in California and New Mexico. At age 21, she volunteered to serve a religious mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and was assigned to the Uruguay-Paraguay Mission where she served as a full-time, Spanish-speaking missionary for eighteen months and met her husband. After marrying, Connie moved to New Mexico where she lived for thirty-three years and was deeply involved in the local community. She was a Boy Scouts of America volunteer, which eventually led to all three of her sons to become Eagle Scouts, and two of her sons to become pilots in the United States Air Force. She was a volunteer youth religion and music teacher who influenced the lives of many youth and later helped influence her children to serve full-time missions in three different countries. Connie had a beautiful, soothing alto voice and sang with the Southern California Grandland Singers and the New Mexico Quintessence Choral Artists of the Southwest. Additionally, she sang and directed the Rio Rancho LDS Tapestry Women's Choir for many years. Just prior to her passing, Connie became a proud member of the Daughter's of the American Revolution.Faith, relationships, patriotism, and especially her children and grandchildren, were the center of her life. As a youth, she dreamed of someday adopting children. This dream was fulfilled in 1999, when Connie and her husband traveled to China to adopt a beautiful five and seven-year old brother and sister who blessed her life in her middle age until she passed away. She is survived by her husband, Brad; her three sons, Adam, Davey, and James; her daughter, Jin; and her two grandchildren. Although she will be sorely missed, there will be many generations of grandchildren to come that will continue to honor her memory and reflect her beautiful influence in their lives. The Funeral Service will be held at 12:00PM, Friday, December 30, 2016 in Ranchos Palos Verdes, California at the Green Hills Memorial Park Cemetery Historic Chapel.Funeral Home:The Springs Funeral Services3115 East Platte AvenueColorado Springs, , COUS 80909
