Obituary of Janice Elaine Peterson

Janice Elaine Peterson, 64, of Calhan, passed away the 24th of December, 2016 at her home with her husband by her side.She is survived by her husband of 44 years, Kevin Peterson; their children, Brent (Kerri) Peterson and Christal (Johnathan) Monger of Calhan; five grandchildren, Jaiden Monger, Ciara Monger, Toby Monger, Zachary Peterson, and Kailey Peterson; a brother, Albert (Lora) Kobilan of Calhan; and two sisters, Patty (Calvin) Jolly of Calhan and Maryellen (Todd) Mitchell of Colorado Springs. She also leaves behind her beloved dog, Rocky.Janice was born October 15th, 1952 in Colorado Springs to the late Albert and Diana Kobilan. She was raised on the family farm in Calhan and graduated from Calhan High School. She was very active in 4H throughout her school years, won many awards in sewing and modeled her clothes at the state fair. After high school she attended airline stewardess school in Denver and Blair Business College in Colorado Springs. In April of 1972 she met the love of her life! On August 26th, 1972 she was united in marriage to Kevin Peterson. They would move to Minnesota for 7 years then return to the family homestead to raise their children. Janice worked for Hewlett Packard for 23 ½ years while also running and driving for the family trucking business, K & J Trucking, Inc.Janice always enjoyed time with her family. She loved doing crafts and puzzles with her grandchildren and watching them in their many activities. Road trips to her favorite vacation spots, eating at Casa Bonita, and spending time at home were some of the things she looked forward to. Nothing made her happier than spending time and creating memories with her grandchildren.Her memorial service will be held at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Calhan on Monday, January 16, 2017, at 10:00am followed immediately by a potluck reception at Swink Hall, El Paso County Fairgrounds.
