Obituary of Derek Stephen Burmeister

Derek Stephen Burmeister was born April 3, 1970 to Stephen Burmeister and Mia Rosenquist-Means in Abington Township, Pennsylvania. He passed on December 29, 2016.Derek graduated from Central Bucks High School East. Derek was very active in sports and was a volunteer fireman for the Doylestown Fire Company. He then moved to Seattle, Washington with his mother and stepfather, William Means, with whom he was very close.Derek attended a local technical school for a few years and was involved and enjoyed amateur motorcycle racing. In 1995, he met his wife, Melissa and started their life together in Silverdale, Washington where he was very active with their children, Kirk, Kevin, Kyle and Kameron, and with Melissa's dance studio. He continued being a volunteer fireman and became Lieutenant for Central Kitsap Fire District.Derek and Melissa moved to Colorado Springs with their youngest child, Kameron, in 2014, where they purchased thirty-five acres and had a menagerie of animals.Derek loved the outdoors, motorcycling riding, dirt bike riding, boating and snowboarding.Anyone who knew Derek would tell you he was a loyal family man and a faithful friend.
