Obituary of Barbara Jean Murphy

Barbara J. Murphy, 78, passed away peacefully on December 29, 2016 in the shadows of the Garden of the Gods while in the compassionate care of Pikes Peak Hospice while staying at The Palisades at Broadmoor Park in Colorado Springs. Barbara was born in Blue Island, Illinois and started her family in Matteson, Illinois in 1958.She is the mother of Charles (Laura) Zulanas, III, the late Raymond (Patricia) Zulanas, Thomas (Katherine) Zulanas, Dennis (Aneta) Zulanas, Stephen (Janine) Zulanas, Joseph Zulanas and Alan (Lisa) Zulanas; sister of Carol (and the late Michael) Manna, James (Linda) Murphy, and Robert (Phyllis) Murphy; grandmother of fifteen; and great-grandmother of one.Barbara earned her bachelor's degree from Olivet Nazerene University and her Chaplain's program certificate from Saint Louis University. She worked as a hospital chaplain for many years in both Illinois and Colorado. Most recently, Barbara retired and enjoyed traveling to see her many children and grandchildren.Barbara will be greatly missed, but her legacy will live on in the her beautiful family and in the many individuals she ministered to.
