Obituary of Gregory "Woody" Rogers
Greg was a California Boy. He was a surfer, and the taller the waves, the happier he was. He wore his shorts the whole year round, and often amused our neighbors when they would see him out shoveling a couple of feet of snow wearing his shorts and heavy winter boots. He also loved music and played in the Los Angeles Junior Symphony when he was twelve years old. Naturally, he had a Garage Boy Band when he was in high school. He could hear four or five notes and tell you the name of the song and sing the words to it. He was amazing.Greg was a carpenter by trade and loved working with wood. Hence, the name, "Woody".Greg felt his greatest accomplishment was when he received his certificate as a Wildland Firefighter. He was so honored to be chosen with several other firefighters to go out to California and fight the Zaca Fire in 2007. It was one of the five largest fires in California history, burning 225, 000 acres.Isaiah 43:1But now thus says the LORD who created you, O Jacob, and He that formed you, O Israel, Fear not: for I have redeemed you, I have called you by your name; you are mine. When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow you. When you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon you.Greg was called home to be with his Lord on February 25, 2017. Gone too soon in our earthly opinion, but perfect timing in the Lord's plan. We will miss his sense of humor and his kindness to so many people. Rest in Peace, Greg.Funeral Home:The Springs Funeral Services3115 East Platte AvenueColorado Springs, , COUS 80909
